How to get rid of Smelly Feet
One of the problems with sweaty feet is that it provides an ideal breeding ground for the bacteria that makes your feet smell. Now, very few people have nice smelling feet but for some, it is a majorly embarrassing problem, so how can we get rid of smelly feet or at least prevent it from happening in the first place.
Whilst there can be many reasons for having smelly feet, poor care is usually one of the major ones. People often don't realise for instance that although sweating is natural, a certain amount of perspiration will be retained in the shoe material. Therefore, a new pair of shoes should ideally be purchased approximately every six months. It is also a good reason to avoid buying second hand shoes!
However, even buying new shoes won't get rid of the bacteria that are already on your feet and causing the smell. Did you know that it is these very same bacteria which are responsible for creating the strong smell that some cheeses have; this probably explains a lot!
This bacterium often causes a problem referred to as athlete's foot which if anyone has smelled it will testify that it is seriously unpleasant.
So how do you get rid of smelly feet if you already have them?
As well as making sure that your shoes are fresh, it is important to always wear clean socks as inevitably, the majority of sweat is soaked up by them so they should only be worn once and should be washed fairly soon after washing.
Creams and Sprays for Smelly Feet
A damp environment is ideal for breeding bacteria so always try to keep your feet dry if possible. This may not always be the case, for example during rain, but always dry your feet as best as possible and change socks as soon as you can.
The same applies after visiting public areas such as gyms or changing rooms. Make sure that you wash and dry your feet well to avoid bacterial growth.
As a last resort, there are creams and sprays which can be bought which will help with athlete's foot and you may want to try this initially. If these fail, then it is time to consult you doctor who will advise you of the best way to get rid of smelly feet in your circumstances.
