What Causes Excessive Underarm Sweating ?
One of the most common visible places for people to sweat is under their arms. This is natural and helps to keep the body cool. However, if you suffer from excessive underarm sweating, this can be problematic as well as embarrassing for you.
Of course, there are many simple steps that can be taken to at least limit excessive underarm sweating. For example, wearing loose fitting clothing helps as it allows air to flow around the area.
Certain materials are more likely to cause excessive underarm sweating, especially man made fibres such as polyester. This material is well known for causing heavy perspiration. Silk is a great material but very expensive. Most people who suffer from this recommend natural cotton as it allows the body to breath.
As well as the noticeable sweat stain under the armpit, another problem that can be associated with excessive underarm sweating is that of body odour which as anyone who has encountered it will know, is not very pleasant at all.
This effect can be limited by using an anti deodorant spray or roll on but even better is to try to avoid the problem in the first place by following good personal hygiene and showering regularly. If the problem is bad, it is worth trying an antibacterial soap as this is one of the major causes of bad body odour. It is best if possible and unless prescribed by a doctor, to use antiperspirants as although these stop you sweating, they tend to simply bock the pores which can lead to other problems.
Vitamins for Excessive Sweating
As perspiration helps to cool the body, it is a good idea to find other ways to do this so that your body will not need to sweat as much. Of course, the most obvious way to do this is to ensure that you drink plenty of water, especially during hot weather and also during any exercise.
Multi vitamins and especially vitamin B are often suggested to help with excessive sweating. As vitamin B is not stored in the body, we need a regular supply of this and it can be found in grains especially. If you are a vegan, you do need to ensure an adequate source of B12 as it is lacking in a vegan diet.
It is important too to ensure that you wash your clothes on a regular basis as sweat will accumulate in the material only to be reheated when you next wear them if not washed. This will lead to not only excessive underarm sweating but also increased body odour.
